Concept

Back in 1991 I had this concept of painting my own personal vantage point, all that I see from my own eyes, my peripheral vision, that meant painting parts of my own body, my nose, my hands, my hair, my body in perspective. I wanted to paint simple everyday situations like watching TV, eating breakfast, driving my car; but a new layer was added to that perspective as I was watching TV, the gulf war was just starting.....and these are the paintings that followed. The octagonal shape is to simulate our peripheral vision, when exhibited the viewer is to stand close to the painting so their peripheral vision and the painting become one.
